Mayor of Cambridge Councillor Nigel Gawthrope, who passed away suddenly while on a holiday in South Africa with Jenny, his beloved wife and Mayoress.

Councillor Gawthrope was first elected to the City Council to represent King’s Hedges ward as one of a local team of four Labour Councillors in 2012, and in May 2018 became Mayor of Cambridge, a role he excelled in.

I took this portrait of 'our Mayor' at event in December - I think it portrays how much he enjoyed the role and how proud he was of representing Cambridge.
