Suzy Lishman...

29th October 2019

This was a very rewarding portrait for me to photgraph of Pathologist Suzy Lishman, when she returned to her former Cambridge college - Girton. The setting autumn sun with its longer, slanted light provides sharp definition whilst Suzy's bright red jacket and silver brooch stands out well against the autumnal hues in the background. The almost perfect shadow on her face is just enough to add a dramatic outline, but soft enough not to dominate.

Suzy Lishman, consultant cellular pathologist at Peterborough City Hospital, is Head of Department and lead pathologist for the local bowel cancer screening programme. She was elected President of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2014 and is credited for raising its profile by introducing public engagement initiatives such as National Pathology Week.
